In response to the EU AI Act and to support our broader innovation goals, TenneT is implementing a cross-border AI Governance Framework that ensures AI is developed and used in a compliant and trustworthy way.

This team is part of BTO Domain Office DD and works cross border it contains 15 people in DE and 75 in NL.
Who is responsible for the al AI use within TenneT.

For TenneT, we are looking for an experienced Project Lead AI Governance.

Your Role:
As Project Lead AI Governance Implementation, you will be responsible for leading the rollout of TenneT’s AI Governance Framework across both the Netherlands and Germany. The framework is being developed in partnership with a strategic implementation partner, and your primary focus will be on driving internal alignment, engaging stakeholders, and steering the external partner’s work.

This role is located in Bayreuth, ensuring a local presence in Germany to support the development of our GenAI capability, which is led by a counterpart Project Lead GenAI based in the Netherlands. You will work closely with this counterpart to ensure consistent and complementary implementation of AI governance and GenAI use across both countries.

Your Responsibilities:
Lead and coordinate the internal implementation of the cross-border AI Governance Framework in alignment with the EU AI Act.
Act as TenneT’s primary interface to the implementation partner, overseeing planning, delivery quality, and execution progress.
Manage and align a diverse group of internal stakeholders across Legal, Compliance, Data Governance, IT Security, Operations, and Business units.
Ensure adoption of the governance framework into business-as-usual practices and digital transformation initiatives.
Collaborate with the Project Lead GenAI (based in NL), providing local support for the GenAI capability development in Germany and ensuring governance principles are consistently applied.
Support the development and rollout of training, communication, and change management activities around responsible AI use.
Facilitate regular progress reporting and decision-making at the level of the AI Steering Committee and other governance bodies.
Contribute to audit readiness and regulatory engagement related to AI usage.

Profile
• Academic degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
• At least 5 years of experience in project or program management in a technical, regulatory, or compliance-oriented environment.
• Proven ability to manage external partners and lead internal change across multiple departments.
• Solid understanding of AI technologies, digital governance, or regulatory frameworks (knowledge of the EU AI Act is highly desirable).
• Experience in cross-border or international projects is a plus.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to navigate complex stakeholder environments.
• Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
• Being able to speak and write German is a requirement because of the support given to the German colleagues.

Important
• The biggest challenge for the candidate is to support the current manager and have the will to work hands-on on the design of the AI Governance and GenAI capability.
• VOG must be received before a candidate can start.
• Commitment for at least 32 hours per week.
• Location: Arnhem MCE - min 2 x week at the office.
• The candidate needs to have the willingness to travel 1 x in 4-6 weeks to Bayreuth, DE.

• Suppliers of candidates must be aware of the applicable laws and regulations in the field of employment conditions and the (TenneT) collective labor agreement. This commitment falls within scale 9 of the TenneT collective labor agreement.

Screening:
