Cloud Engineer


Unit:
The Digital & Data organization at TenneT is focused on driving innovation and leveraging digital technology to enhance data-driven decision-making across the company. As part of this mission, the organization has developed the TenneT Data Cloud (TDC), a modern cloud-based data platform built on Azure. This platform supports a wide range of data integration, processing, and analytics tasks, serving as the foundation for data initiatives across TenneT. Within this structure, DevOps teams play a central role, working closely with stakeholders to deliver high-quality, scalable, and reliable data solutions that meet the evolving needs of the business.

What does a Cloud Engineer do at TenneT?
As a Cloud Engineer in the Digital & Data organization, you are a key player in the design, implementation and maintenance of TenneT’s cutting edge Tennet Data Cloud (TDC). You will work in one of our amazing DevOps teams where you work together on a daily base with your colleagues. You setup and maintain Azure services like Databricks and Azure Data Factory. Your stakeholders are mainly the other Digital & Data DevOps teams. Together with them you will translate their needs into smart technical solutions. You automize workflows, make sure that there is a seamless integration with various datasources and you guard the performance of the TDC to make sure that we can guarantee a high level of availability and reliability. Because you are curious and eager to learn, you stay up to date with the latest Azure technologies and best practices.

What do we expect from you ?
• Hands on design, develop, and implement services on Azure;
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for efficient and automated deployment and testing of data engineering processes;
• Utilize scripting and development skills in languages such as Python, Java, and other relevant languages to enhance data processing and manipulation;
• Demonstrate expertise in Azure services, ensuring efficient data storage, data ingestion, data transformation, and data analytics;
• Develop and integrate APIs to enable smooth data communication and interaction with external systems;
• Implement automated workflows and integrations;
• Work with IAC to provision and manage cloud infrastructure on Azure.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
• 3-5 years experience as a Cloud Engineer or a comparable role, with a focus on implementing, optimizing and maintaining large scale analytics platforms;
• Hands-on Experience with Azure services, specifically Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks;
• Knowledge of continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) methodologies and tools, preferably Azure DevOps or GitHub;
• Hands-on experience with Infrastructure As Code, preferably Terraform;
• Knowledge of containerization technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes;
• Solid scripting and development skills. Knowledge of Python!
• Familiarity with automated workflows and integrations;
• Understanding of API development and integration;
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to troubleshooting and optimising data engineering processes;
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment;
• Knowledge of big data technologies and frameworks like Hadoop, Spark, and Kafka is a plus.

• Communication skills are important, candidate needs to speak Dutch and English!
• TenneT is looking for a cloud / platform engineer, whereby the candidate needs to have experience with Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure Data Factory, Azure Databrick with knowledge of continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) methodologies and tools.
• Experience within 'bigger'' organisations is preferable;
• Soft skills are important. TenneT is looking for a candidate with humor who is a fit in the informal team.

Conditions:
• At entry, TenneT performs a Pre-Employment Screening;
• Duty station for this position is Arnhem (preferable 2 days a week), other days hybrid;
• Two interviews will take place. First interview with 1 or 2 architects and a product owner. Second interview will be an informal interview with the lead. Both interviews will be online (first interview can also take place on location in Arnhem).

• Suppliers must be aware of the laws and regulations regarding employment conditions and Tennet’s Collective Labour Agreement. This assignment is placed in scale 8.

Screening:
• Pre-employment screening: If the candidate is selected to start, a pre-employment screening will be executed.
