Are you eager to work at the forefront of AI innovation, delivering impactful solutions and helping to transform the fight against financial economic crime (FEC)? Do you enjoy sharing your expertise and learning from others? If so, we invite you to read on.
You will become part of a new GenAI team within the FEC Data & Insights area (D&I). Our team was established in March this year. In the initial months, we focused on developing our product vision and identifying key topics of interest.
Knowledge Sharing: Responsible GenAI for everyone. We aim to make GenAI a trusted and everyday tool. We do that by sharing practical knowledge, organizing hands-on workshops, and hosting inspiration sessions.
GenAI use cases: GenAI beyond Microsoft Copilot. As a team, we initiate, advise on, and develop GenAI use cases from start (idea) to finish (production) across the D&I area.
Unstructured data: Unstructured data is the fuel for GenAI applications. As an area, we are uniquely positioned to support GenAI initiatives across FEC Tech with unstructured data governance and best practices.
Your role
You will be working dedicatedly on a next generation Business Intelligence project. As D&I, we provide high quality dashboards to our FEC stakeholders. These dashboards however, are often a starting point for our stakeholders, instead of a final product. Typically, stakeholders gather what they need from the dashboards, and copy that information into a report, management summary, or other deliverable.
This project aims to help these stakeholders to focus directly on their needs. Currently, we are thinking about the following roadmap:
1 Enabling stakeholders to query data in natural language and receive meaningful responses;
2 Integrating visualisation features to generate relevant visuals on demand, based on natural language interactions;
3 Enhancing analytical capabilities to support deeper data understanding and improved reporting;
4 Providing advanced reporting options, such as summarisation and conversion to PDF or PowerPoint slides.
Although this is our high level roadmap, we expect to face many (unforeseen) challenges. Therefore, we want build a minimal viable prototype as soon as possible, and get feedback from our stakeholders. Based on that feedback we either persevere or pivot.
What you will be doing
• Development: You will develop, validate, and test new functionalities to advance the project. You are comfortable prototyping in notebooks and follow software development best practices when transitioning reusable code to Python modules.
• Collaboration: This idea originates from a group of GenAI enthusiasts within our area. We want to keep a good working relation with this group so it’s important that you keep them closely aligned, and actively involve them in the development process. Active collaboration with potential users is essential to ensure the project meets their needs. This approach builds confidence in the solution and provides valuable feedback for continuous improvement.
• Communication: You understand that the only way to go from idea to an actual product, is to clearly and actively communicate with all relevant stakeholders. These stakeholders will range from fellow data scientists to upper management, and each have a different information need. You are comfortable communicating at these different levels, and have experience building PowerPoint presentations as well as (live) demos in a development environment.
To summarize, this role requires a balance between technical- and communication skills, and your ability to work together with a wide range of stakeholders is imperative to succeed.
Where you will be working
We believe in the power of difference. Bringing together people's differences is what makes us an even better bank. So we are very curious about what you can bring to our team. Similar to the GenAI team, the area Data & Insights is also fairly new within FEC, as we only recently celebrated our first birthday. The GenAI team is part of the subarea data, which aims to become the trusted partner for centralized, consistent, reliable, and future-proof data for FEC. We have ambitious goals, a growth mindset and we have an open, informal and inclusive culture where we help each other within an agile (scrum) way of working. We work hybrid, with one or two days in the office a week, currently usually on Mondays.
Working together is the way we work; as one data-minded team at Rabobank. Talking of Rabobank: we are a Dutch bank that operates in 37 countries. We have 9.1 million customers in the Netherlands. Together with these customers, our members and partners we stand side by side to create a world in which everyone has access to enough healthy food. In the Netherlands we work to create a country in which people are happy with how they live, work and do business.
Must haves:
• At least five years of hands-on experience as a data scientist. You are comfortable with Python and version control (musthave);
• Experience building (small) GenAI applications (e.g., with Gradio or Streamlit), preferably chatbots (musthave);
• Experience with project- and stakeholder management, you know how to start and finish a data science project (musthave);
• Strong communicator who can convey complex topics to a non-technical audience in an understandable and engaging manner (musthave).
• Academic level, typically with a strong quantitative background;
• You understand what happens “under the hood” of popular GenAI frameworks like LangChain or OpenAI Agents SDK;
• You understand how tools work and how they add significant power to an LLM;
• You understand the drawbacks of LLMs, and how to mitigate them;
• Enjoys creating and giving presentations and workshops.
We recognise that not every candidate will meet every requirement. If you are enthusiastic about this position and believe you would be a good fit for our team, we encourage you to apply.
