Are you an experienced and proactive Health & Safety Specialist? We are looking for a dedicated individual to ensure compliance with regulations across our offshore O&M projects. As part of our team, you will provide vital support to project teams, contribute to safety culture programs, conduct risk assessments, and oversee complex offshore projects. O&M projects are focused on large-scale activities within our existing offshore O&M sites across Vattenfall’s core countries. These projects include activities such as main component exchanges, cable repairs or exchanges, and work with construction vessels to execute these scopes.

As H&S Specialist – O&M Projects within Offshore Wind, you have the following key responsibilities:
- Provide ongoing support and advice to the project team to ensure compliance with relevant health and safety statutory obligations, codes, and standards.
- Provide ongoing support and advice to the project team to ensure compliance with Vattenfall safety objectives, expectations, requirements, and safety management system obligations.
- Support the execution of duties required under the European Health and Safety Coordination regulations of each country and similar principles of the European Temporary Works Directive and UK Construction Design and Management Regulations 2015.
- Contribute to and, where required, lead the implementation of the project safety culture program.
- Drive H&S risk management within the O&M projects organization, support the development of Risk Assessments / Method Statements (RAMS), and monitor compliance with Health and Safety during execution of the O&M projects.
- Plan and conduct drills and exercises to validate Emergency Response provisions across the project.
- Plan and execute audits and inspections to ensure that all activities under the project scope are assured.
- Oversee incidents and safety observations and support the satisfactory closeout of resultant actions.
- Investigate incidents and review external investigation reports for acceptance, ensuring all resultant actions are closed satisfactorily.
- Contribute to health and safety in the selection and procurement of supply chain partners.
- Implement lessons learned, safety alerts, and other health and safety aspects and learnings.
- Support the development and update of safety standards, instructions, codes, and guidelines, and formalize them into company-documented practices as required.
- Ensure sharing and implementation of these across projects.
- Ensure maintenance of Health and Safety File information.
- Ensure communication and cooperation between all parties and duty holders.
- Communicate openly to actively engage with the wider Vattenfall community on health and safety.
- Support the H&S component of contractor management processes, including procurement, contractor performance evaluation, and audits.
Your profile / who are you?
We are looking for a proactive H&S Specialist for our O&M Projects, who can focus on both people and business and has demonstrable experience coaching teams in challenging environments. Experience with Offshore Wind O&M operations would be beneficial, and affinity with the offshore wind sector is preferred.
- Proven experience as an H&S professional, preferably in offshore wind, energy, or oil and gas sectors.
- Minimum level 3 qualification in Occupational Health & Safety (NEBOSH NGC or equivalent), with an ambition to undergo further training and development.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in an offshore project environment.
- Good technical understanding of the offshore wind environment with a strong practical background.
- Good understanding of applicable legislation, codes, and standards related to health and safety within offshore and onshore construction project environments.
- Full and detailed understanding of applicable H&S-related construction and design legislation (e.g. H&S coordinator in Europe / CDM in the UK).
- Flexible, practical, and proactive approach to managing operational challenges.
- Experience with H&S management systems and auditing.
- Experience managing H&S in the supply chain.
- Experience with client / contractor relationships and management.
- Strong command of the English language, both verbal and written.
- Ability to interact productively within an offshore team across client, contractor, supplier, subcontractor, and internal interfaces.
- Ideally, working knowledge of compliance with Marine Coordination, Wind Turbine Safety Rules, High Voltage Safety from the System, or other electrical and mechanical Safe Systems of Work in wind farms.
